Andhra Schools Set for Rapid Development After Lokesh Directive

In a strong push to improve government education, Nara Lokesh has directed officials to accelerate school infrastructure works across Andhra Pradesh by giving a larger role to School Management Committees (SMCs). The move is aimed at completing pending works quickly and ensuring that students study in better and safer environments.

During a review meeting with education department officials, Lokesh emphasized that infrastructure improvements should not be delayed due to administrative hurdles. He instructed authorities to identify schools lacking basic facilities and immediately begin development works. By empowering SMCs at the grassroots level, the government hopes to ensure faster execution and better monitoring of projects.

Priority to Basic Facilities

Lokesh stressed that every government school must provide essential amenities such as proper classrooms, clean drinking water, functional toilets, electricity, and adequate furniture. He pointed out that gaps in infrastructure often discourage parents from enrolling their children in government schools and also affect student attendance and performance.

To address this issue, minor repair works, building maintenance, painting, and small construction activities will be handled by SMCs. This decentralized approach is expected to speed up the process and allow local communities to take ownership of school development.

Targeting Higher Infrastructure Standards

As part of the broader education reform plan, Lokesh directed officials to upgrade all government schools to improved infrastructure standards. He suggested that schools with larger student strength should be equipped with advanced facilities and modern learning environments.

The minister underlined that improving infrastructure is not only about buildings but also about creating a positive learning atmosphere. Better classrooms, clean surroundings, and adequate facilities contribute significantly to improving learning outcomes.

Focus on Increasing Enrolment

Lokesh also highlighted the need to increase student enrolment in government schools. He noted that some schools are witnessing growing demand, which reflects rising confidence among parents. To build on this momentum, he asked officials to conduct special enrolment drives and encourage parents to choose government schools.

Door-to-door campaigns and community engagement were suggested to ensure that every eligible child is enrolled. The minister also emphasized reducing dropout rates and ensuring continuity in education.

Special Attention to Rural and Remote Areas

The minister instructed officials to prioritize schools in rural and remote areas where infrastructure challenges are more prominent. He said students in these regions should not be disadvantaged due to lack of facilities.

Construction of additional classrooms, repairs to damaged buildings, and development of playgrounds and other essential facilities were identified as key priorities in such areas.

Community Participation and Monitoring

Lokesh emphasized the importance of community involvement in strengthening government schools. He encouraged parents, teachers, and local representatives to actively participate in monitoring development works. Regular reviews and accountability measures were also suggested to ensure quality and timely completion.

Holistic Development of Students

Beyond infrastructure, Lokesh stressed the need to focus on overall student growth. He encouraged schools to promote sports, cultural activities, and extracurricular programs. Identifying talented students and providing them with opportunities was highlighted as an important step toward nurturing well-rounded individuals.

Strengthening Public Education

The directive reflects the Andhra Pradesh government's commitment to transforming government schools into modern institutions. By speeding up infrastructure development and involving local communities, the government aims to create better learning environments and attract more students.

With improved facilities, increased enrolment, and stronger community participation, the initiative is expected to bring meaningful change to the state's public education system and ensure quality education for all students.
