Bring Youth Back to Playgrounds, Keep Them Away from Drugs: CM Revanth Reddy
Telangana Government Emphasises Sports as a Powerful Tool to Build a Healthier Generation
Kranthi Shekar - APR 6, 2026

A. Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana, voiced concern over the increasing exposure of young people to drugs and called for stronger efforts to encourage participation in sports. He stressed that guiding youth toward playgrounds and physical activities is essential to protect them from harmful influences and shape a disciplined future.
Youth Moving Away from Sports
Speaking at a sports event in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister noted that many young individuals are gradually distancing themselves from sports and outdoor activities. He said this shift is worrying, as idle time and lack of engagement often make youth more vulnerable to negative habits, including drug use.
Revanth Reddy pointed out that sports not only keep young people physically active but also help channel their energy in a productive way. He stressed that encouraging sports participation can play a key role in reducing drug abuse.
Sports Help Build Discipline and Confidence
The Chief Minister highlighted that involvement in sports helps develop discipline, teamwork, and mental strength. He said young people who regularly participate in sports tend to be more focused and confident in their personal and professional lives.
He urged parents, teachers, and institutions to motivate children to spend more time on playgrounds rather than getting influenced by unhealthy lifestyles.
Collective Effort Needed to Protect Youth
Revanth Reddy emphasized that tackling drug abuse requires cooperation from all sections of society. Families, schools, law enforcement agencies, and the government must work together to create awareness and prevent youth from falling into harmful habits.
He also noted that promoting sports culture and improving facilities would encourage more young people to explore their talent and pursue positive goals.
Focus on Building Future Athletes
The Chief Minister stated that Telangana has strong potential to produce outstanding athletes if proper encouragement and infrastructure are provided. He stressed that investing in sports will not only create champions but also help build a healthier and more responsible generation.
Revanth Reddy concluded by saying that bringing youth back to sports is the need of the hour, as it will help keep them away from drugs and contribute to a stronger future for society.
