Kaushik Reddy Fires at Bandi Sanjay, Demands Open Debate With KTR
Alekhya Kota - MAY 8, 2026

Political tensions in Telangana intensified after BRS leader Padi Kaushik Reddy launched a strong attack on Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar and challenged him to face BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao in an open public debate.
Addressing the media, Kaushik Reddy accused Bandi Sanjay of repeatedly making statements against KTR while remaining soft on the Congress government in Telangana. He alleged that the BJP leader was deliberately targeting the BRS leadership instead of questioning the ruling administration on issues affecting the public.
The BRS MLA claimed there appeared to be a political understanding between certain BJP and Congress leaders in the state. According to him, both parties were attempting to weaken the BRS by continuously attacking KTR and other senior party leaders. He questioned why BJP leaders were not aggressively exposing the failures of the state government if they were genuinely fighting for the people.
Kaushik Reddy said KTR has consistently spoken on development, governance, investments, and public welfare, while opposition parties were focusing only on criticism and political allegations. He defended the former minister by saying the BRS leadership had played a major role in transforming Telangana during its years in power.
The MLA also criticized what he described as personal attacks against KTR. He warned that BRS leaders would strongly counter any attempt to damage the party’s image through repeated accusations and political provocations. According to him, the opposition was becoming uncomfortable with KTR’s growing popularity and influence among party workers and the public.
Taking the confrontation a step further, Kaushik Reddy openly challenged Bandi Sanjay to participate in a direct debate with KTR. He said such a discussion would expose which party truly worked for Telangana’s development and which leaders were merely engaging in political drama. He expressed confidence that KTR could answer every allegation with facts and performance records.
The remarks quickly sparked reactions across Telangana’s political circles. Supporters of the BJP and BRS exchanged criticism on social media, while party workers defended their respective leaders. The clash has once again highlighted the intense political rivalry between the BJP and BRS, especially as both parties attempt to strengthen their influence in the state.
Political analysts believe the aggressive tone from both sides reflects the changing political dynamics in Telangana after the Congress came to power. With the BRS trying to rebuild its political momentum and the BJP aiming to expand its base, verbal confrontations between leaders have become increasingly common.
Observers also note that KTR remains one of the central political figures in Telangana despite the BRS losing power. Opposition parties frequently target him because of his visibility and strong connect with party cadres. At the same time, BRS leaders continue to project him as the face of the party’s future leadership.
Kaushik Reddy’s statements have added fresh heat to the political atmosphere, turning the spotlight once again on the rivalry between major parties in the state. As accusations and counterattacks continue, Telangana politics appears set for more intense confrontations in the coming months.
The latest episode also signals that political debates in the state are moving beyond governance issues and becoming more personal and aggressive. With elections and future political strategies already shaping public discourse, leaders from all sides are trying to dominate the narrative and energize their supporters.
For now, the challenge thrown by Kaushik Reddy has become a major talking point in Telangana politics, further intensifying the battle between the BRS and BJP leadership.
