Statue of Potti Sreeramulu Unveiled in Amaravati by N. Chandrababu Naidu

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a statue of Potti Sreeramulu in Amaravati, paying tribute to one of the most respected figures in the history of the Telugu people. The ceremony was organized to recognize the sacrifices made by the freedom fighter and to remind people of the struggle that led to the creation of a separate state for Telugu speakers.
Respect for a Historic Leader
While unveiling the statue, the Chief Minister spoke about the dedication and courage shown by Potti Sreeramulu. He stated that Sreeramulu’s life reflects the power of determination and commitment to a cause. According to him, remembering such leaders is important because their sacrifices helped shape the identity and future of the region.

Contribution to the Telugu Movement
Potti Sreeramulu is remembered for his relentless efforts to secure a separate state for Telugu-speaking people. During the early 1950s, he undertook a hunger strike to demand recognition and administrative autonomy for the Telugu community.
His protest captured the attention of the entire nation and eventually resulted in the formation of Andhra State in 1953. His sacrifice is often seen as a major milestone that influenced the linguistic reorganization of states in India.
Purpose of the Memorial
The installation of the statue in Amaravati is intended to preserve the memory of the leader and educate younger generations about the history of the state.
