Telangana Charts New Path with 61,000 Acres Shift to Natural Farming

Big Push for Eco-Conscious Cultivation

The Telangana government is taking a decisive step towards sustainable agriculture by planning to bring more than 61,000 acres under natural farming during the upcoming kharif season. This initiative reflects a growing focus on reducing chemical usage and encouraging environmentally responsible practices.

Planned Expansion Through Cluster Approach

Officials intend to implement the programme through a cluster-based model, allowing groups of farmers to adopt natural farming collectively. This method is expected to improve coordination, simplify monitoring, and promote the exchange of practical knowledge among farmers.

Capacity Building and On-Ground Guidance

To support this transition, farmers will receive hands-on training and continuous guidance from agricultural experts. Facilities will be created to help them prepare organic inputs, including natural fertilisers and pest control solutions, using locally sourced materials.

Cutting Costs While Reviving Soil Health

By shifting away from synthetic inputs, farmers are likely to see a reduction in cultivation expenses. At the same time, natural methods are expected to enhance soil fertility, improve water retention, and restore ecological balance over time.

Better Returns Through Changing Market Trends

As awareness about chemical-free food continues to rise, produce grown through natural methods is gaining preference among consumers. This trend could open up better pricing opportunities and improved market access for farmers adopting these practices.

Towards a More Resilient Agricultural System

With this initiative, Telangana is aiming to create a farming model that balances productivity with environmental protection. The move is seen as a long-term investment in sustainable growth, ensuring both farmer welfare and the preservation of natural resources.
