Kranthi Shekar - APR 7, 2026

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has pledged to complete all pending irrigation projects across the state, highlighting water security as a top priority for agricultural growth and rural development. He emphasized that strengthening irrigation infrastructure will help farmers overcome water shortages and improve crop productivity.
Priority to Long-Pending Projects
The Chief Minister stated that several irrigation projects that remained incomplete for years will now be taken up on a priority basis. The government plans to remove administrative hurdles, speed up construction work, and ensure sufficient funding to complete these initiatives without further delays. By accelerating these projects, the administration aims to provide consistent water supply to farmlands and reduce dependence on unpredictable rainfall.
Boost to Agriculture and Farmers
Revanth Reddy noted that improved irrigation facilities will significantly benefit farmers across Telangana. With reliable water availability, agricultural output is expected to increase, allowing farmers to diversify into multiple crops and improve their income. The move is also expected to reduce crop losses caused by drought conditions and strengthen the rural economy.
Reviving Key Irrigation Initiatives
The government is also focusing on reviving major irrigation projects that have the potential to irrigate large areas of farmland. These projects are expected to bring thousands of acres under cultivation and provide relief to drought-prone districts. Officials have been directed to closely monitor progress and ensure timely execution.
Focus on Balanced Regional Development
Revanth Reddy emphasized that irrigation development will play a crucial role in ensuring balanced growth across Telangana. By expanding water resources, the government aims to encourage agriculture, attract investments, and create employment opportunities in rural areas. Improved irrigation infrastructure is also expected to support allied sectors such as dairy, horticulture, and food processing.
Government’s Long-Term Vision
The Chief Minister reiterated that providing water to every possible acre remains a key objective of the government. Completing pending irrigation projects is expected to improve farmers’ livelihoods, enhance food production, and strengthen the state’s overall economy.
With this renewed focus on irrigation, Telangana is set to witness faster agricultural development and improved water management, offering new hope to farmers and rural communities across the state.
