Telangana BJP Launches ‘Rythu Gosa – BJP Bharosa’ Yatra to Reach Farmers Across State
Alekhya Kota - MAY 25, 2026

The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has begun a large-scale farmers’ outreach campaign titled “Rythu Gosa – BJP Bharosa,” aiming to highlight the problems faced by farmers and assure them of political support. The yatra, which is being conducted across several agricultural districts in the state, has quickly turned into a major political event as BJP leaders seek to strengthen their presence in rural Telangana.
The campaign was launched under the leadership of Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao. Senior party leaders, MPs, MLAs, and district-level representatives joined the programme, which is focused on directly interacting with farmers, listening to their concerns, and discussing issues related to agriculture and procurement. The BJP leadership said the yatra was organised to expose what it describes as the failures of the state government in handling farmers’ issues.
The bus yatra began in the Chevella region and is scheduled to pass through multiple farming belts including Gajwel, Jangaon, Warangal, and Peddapally. Party leaders plan to hold meetings with farmers at village-level procurement centres, market yards, and agricultural hubs during the journey. The BJP believes that direct engagement with rural communities will help bring attention to the challenges being faced by cultivators during the ongoing procurement season.
A major issue raised during the yatra is the delay in paddy procurement. BJP leaders alleged that several procurement centres are operating inefficiently, leaving farmers waiting for days to sell their produce. According to the party, many centres are facing shortages of gunny bags, transportation facilities, labour, and storage arrangements. As a result, harvested paddy is reportedly being left in open spaces, causing anxiety among farmers who fear losses due to unexpected rains and changing weather conditions.
The BJP leadership accused the Congress-led Telangana government of failing to properly manage the procurement process. Party representatives claimed that despite official announcements about smooth procurement operations, the actual situation in villages tells a different story. Farmers, they argued, are struggling with delays in payments and logistical problems that are increasing their financial burden.
BJP Legislature Party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy strongly criticised the state administration during the yatra. He alleged that procurement operations lacked transparency and questioned the coordination between officials and rice millers. According to BJP leaders, the procurement system needs immediate reforms to ensure that farmers do not suffer because of administrative inefficiency.
The yatra also became a platform for the BJP to project itself as a farmer-friendly political force in Telangana. Leaders participating in the programme repeatedly assured farmers that the party would continue raising agricultural issues both inside and outside the Assembly. They promised to pressure the government to speed up procurement, clear pending dues, and improve facilities at purchasing centres.
Several senior BJP figures joined the campaign, including MPs Eatala Rajender, D. K. Aruna, and Raghunandan Rao. The participation of top leaders indicates the importance the party is giving to rural outreach ahead of future political battles in the state. BJP leaders interacted with farmers during roadside meetings and public gatherings, where they listened to complaints regarding crop sales, irrigation concerns, and rising cultivation expenses.
Apart from criticising the state government, BJP leaders also highlighted welfare measures introduced by the Central government for the farming sector. They referred to schemes related to minimum support price procurement, fertiliser subsidies, irrigation projects, and direct financial assistance to farmers. The party argued that while the Centre has introduced several farmer-oriented policies, their implementation at the state level remains weak.
Political observers believe the “Rythu Gosa – BJP Bharosa” yatra is part of the BJP’s broader strategy to expand its influence in Telangana’s rural regions. Agriculture remains one of the most sensitive and influential political issues in the state, and every major party is trying to build stronger connections with farmers. By focusing on procurement challenges and farmer grievances, the BJP hopes to gain public support in villages where dissatisfaction over agricultural management has become a growing concern.
The campaign has also intensified political debate between the BJP and the ruling Congress government. While BJP leaders continue attacking the administration over procurement failures, the ruling party is expected to defend its record on farmer welfare and agricultural development. With rural issues increasingly dominating Telangana politics, the coming months are likely to witness sharper political confrontations centered around agriculture, farmer support systems, and state-level governance.
Through the “Rythu Gosa – BJP Bharosa” yatra, the BJP is attempting to position itself as a strong alternative voice for Telangana farmers. Whether the campaign succeeds politically remains to be seen, but it has undoubtedly brought farmers’ concerns back to the centre of political discussion in the state.
